Hero Returns Series 2006
Inspired in part by Major Tom in David Bowie's Space Oddity and Stanley Kubric's seminal film 2001:A Space Odyessy, this series of paintings formed the main body of work for Artifacts from Another Place. The first solo exhibition from Spokes Monkey Inc., it opened to no small fanfare on the 13th of December 2006 at the Paramount in sunny Wellington, New Zealand.
While it touches base with the ideas surounding collective mythical icons, Pop Culture and hero worship in general there's an element of the comical and the biographic.
